The inscription is on the three northern faces of the octagonal section of the pillar; the bottom of the inscribed area is about 230 cm from the ground.
A single plate engraved on both sides, weighing 606 grams. There is an oval projection in the middle of the (viewer's, recto) left side, to which a now lost seal would have been attached. There is a triangular hole in the centre of the oval. Judging from the indentation of the lines next to this area, the seal would have been about 8 cm in diameter.

The dimensions above are for any one face.

The inscription occupies five faces of the octagonal base, with the lines running contiguously across the faces. An indentation of the base below line 4 has destroyed some of the top mātrās in line 5, and the bottom has been broken off, leaving line 12 incomplete and any number of further lines lost.
Two plates, each inscribed on one face only. Dimensions above are for the first plate; the width and height of the second is about 0.5 cm less. The edges are irregularly thicker than the inscribed surfaces and serve as rims. They are fairly thick but deeply engraved, hence their backs were not suitable for writing on. The inscription is very well preserved.
